Be Kind November: JCCM Gift Match!
12/9/24 Update:
A giant THANK YOU to everyone that joined us in raising funds to equip medical exam rooms for JCCM’s new facility. With the Beall Team matching donation we hit over three thousand combined dollars! What a great way to wrap up Be Kind November 2024!
Original Article:
This November will be Charles Town, West Virginia’s fifth annual “Be Kind November” initiative, where the city encourages local businesses to spread kindness. In past years we’ve sponsored a lamppost banner, given away treats, and handed out coupons. This year we’re excited to partner with Jefferson County Community Ministries (JCCM).
Specifically, we’re striving to raise enough funds to equip not one, but two medical exam rooms at JCCM’s future location! To do that, the Beall Team is matching your donations dollar for dollar for the month of November 2024 to meet our combined goal of $5000!

Medical Exam Room
What happens in the exam room (example image right)? Medical professional volunteers provide basic care, such as bandaging wounds, taking blood samples, providing well women exams, performing diagnostics, assisting with addiction recovery, and offering an array of preventative care.
Why is this important? These treatment and preventative services fill a vital niche in our communities' healthcare by assisting individuals who otherwise might not seek, or be able to afford, such care. Many who don’t have insurance and who don’t trust the medical system come to JCCM to see Dr. Maddie from WVU.
JCCM does an incredible job providing clothing, shelter, food, and medical care for our neighbors in need. Their new facility on Racetrack St will have four medical exam rooms and also dental exam rooms. This will also be the first permanent all weather shelter for families in Jefferson County!
More About JCCM
Over forty years ago, six separate groups in Charles Town banded together with a goal of creating a more organized and efficient way to help neighbors in need here in Jefferson County West Virginia. From that goal, Jefferson County Community Ministries (JCCM) was born.
Today, this alliance of nearly fifty faith and philanthropy organizations provides an array of services to those in our community, from healthcare, to temporary lodging, to food and clothing pantries, to case management, mentoring, and education services. JCCM’s three main objectives are to:
- To enable self-sufficiency in each person they serve
- To empower clients to render permanent solutions in order to attain personal goals
- To prevent homelessness in our community, and beyond, to the best of its ability
JCCM is currently based out of the old JCPenney building, in downtown Charles Town, but is working toward the goal of moving to a new facility on Racetrack St. It will have four medical exam rooms and dental exam rooms. This will also be the first permanent all weather shelter for families in Jefferson County! Currently families needing shelter are split up, women and children going to one space, while young men and fathers have to go to another area. The new Community Services Center will be located on the border of Ranson and Charles Town, where it will be well-situated for its intended use. This location will be central and walkable to downtown, close to West Virginia DHHR, and other local social service agencies.
