Whether it’s freezing cold, scorching hot, or pouring rain, as a parent, it’s nice to have indoor play options. As of July 2026 here is a quick list of indoor play spaces in and around Charles Town WV. If you discover any others, let us know!
Ninja Kingdom Adventure Park
Starting off right here in Charles Town, West Virginia with Ninja Kingdom! There is lots for kids of a wide age range to do. Climbing, jumping, sliding, mazes and more. Think of a scaled back Urban Air. There are also a few rooms that can be rented for private parties. Convenient shoe cubbies, jacket hooks, and benches are located right beyond the pay counter. There are also plenty of tables and chairs spread around for parents to hang out (or work) while the little people explore.
Pro tip: If you want to host a party, weekday evenings are usually less busy than weekends! Trust us, we’ve hosted and attended multiple parties here!

Funtopia
Located right on N. Charles Street in downtown Charles Town, Funtopia offers hours of entertainment no matter what the weather's doing outside. Birthday parties, open play, and plenty of smiles guaranteed! Here’s a few notes from Jess' visit when her kids were six & seven.
Multiple cozy places for caregivers to sit while the kiddos play! Tables, booths, chairs, charging stations and free wifi! Waterfountain, bathroom, pastries and coffee all provided in-house.
Clean, cute, and professional atmosphere. We chatted with Nathan, one of the owners, and as of right now, there’s no official age cap, but kids under eight or nine will probably get the most out of it. There is a special area dedicated for 0-2 year olds. Oh, and right now, passes are good for all day!

For The Kids by George Children’s Museum
Grab your “Character Passports” and check out the For The Kids by George Children’s Museum in Martinsburg, West Virginia!
This is actually still a working train station, which makes it pretty unique as far as museums go. In the main station entrance, you will find a life size mannequin of a 19 year old George Washington rowing a wooden canoe. From there little dots on the floor guide you to three other exhibit areas. A “time tunnel” (1600s-1800s), the covered pedestrian walkway over the tracks (which has some interactive magnetic elements), and another area we’ll call “train information” (various displays, and a nice Lego building area).
There are a few hands-on and playable areas and items, and a respectable amount of historical plaques scattered around.
Metered parking is available right out front (some spots still have quarter fed meters, others require mobile payment). Tickets were $8 per kid when we visited (attending adults are free). Public bathrooms are available. There’s no designated place to put bags or strollers or coats.
If you’re looking for something different, something less crowded, something that you could do easily in an hour or less, this might be your next spot to explore (particularly if you have a train enthusiast in your family).

This family friendly location offers four stories full of unique interactive exhibits and play/learning spaces. We recently took some of our kids (5 & 7) and they had a blast! Here are a few pictures from our visit and some helpful info.
- Tickets are about $10 per person.
- There is a parking lot, but it is metered
- There is a great closet for jackets, strollers, backpacks etc.
- No food or drink is allowed (so keep the snacks in the car)
- There are bathrooms and water fountains on about every level
Pro Tip 1: Your tickets are good for all day. So if you want to leave and come back, just stop by the front desk and a friendly staff member will give you a hand stamp for re-entry.
Pro Tip 2: We got there around 9:30 a.m. It was nice and quiet til about 10:15 when a school bus arrived. The staff said that afternoons are typically the “quietest” as most school groups come in the morning and leave by early afternoon
